Alan Menken’s highly acclaimed musical adaptation of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is being brought to The Hippodrome by BLOC Productions.
With lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and book by Mike Ockrent & Lynn Ahrens. The show was originally presented by Radio City Entertainment at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
The show includes all the traditional aspects of the original novel any audience will expect. We follow Scrooge’s journey from an emotionally deprived man all the way to the end where his heart opens up. Along the way we meet the Cratchit family, the three ghosts and revel at Fezziwig’s Ball. But this production tells the familiar story in a fresh, lively and visually dramatic way. Making London itself one of the main features and introducing a host of colourful characters depicting the rich and the poor, and everyone in between, as they celebrate Christmas.
BLOC Productions has an enviable reputation for spectacular award-winning shows at The Hippodrome. Their last show, Elf – The Musical played to full houses for every performance. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang won the Rose Bowl for Best Musical.
