Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is the critically acclaimed West End musical that is going on tour in 2024. Coming to the Bristol Hippodrome from 25th – 30th March 2024.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a contemporary musical that premiered on the West End in 2017. The show features music by Dan Gillespie Sells and a book and lyrics by Tom MacRae. It is based on the true story of Jamie Campbell. A teenager from Sheffield who dreams of becoming a drag queen.
The musical follows Jamie as he overcomes bullying, family conflict, and societal prejudice to embrace his identity and pursue his dreams. It features catchy songs, including “And You Don’t Even Know It,” “The Wall in My Head,” and “Out of the Darkness,” and showcases the dazzling costumes and choreography of drag performance.
The show has been praised for its fresh and contemporary take on the coming-of-age story. As well as its exploration of themes of identity, acceptance, and belonging. It has also been hailed as a breakthrough for LGBTQ+ representation in musical theatre. Particularly in its portrayal of drag culture and queer youth.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has been adapted for film and television. With a 2020 film adaptation directed by Jonathan Butterell and starring Max Harwood in the titular role.
